Hearing loop Installation & maintenance

Whilst hearing aids may help many people with hearing impairment, they have limitations, especially in noisy situations such as classrooms, offices or public events. Hearing loop systems allow hearing aid users to participate more fully in general conversation and activities.

Do we need to install hearing loop systems?

The  Equality Act (2010) states :

“Service providers are required to make changes, where needed, to improve service for disabled customers or potential customers. There is a legal requirement to make reasonable changes to the way things are done (such as changing a policy), to the built environment (such as making changes to the structure to improve access) and to provide auxiliary aids and services (such as providing information in an accessible format, an induction loop for customers with hearing aids, special computer software or additional staff support when using a service).”

As persons with hearing impairment are therefore protected by the law, a hearing loop system is the way to go in ensuring you are fully compliant.

Hearing loops must be signposted

In addition to installing a hearing loop, the act goes on to stipulate that adequate signage should be put in place to show users where to access this service. We can provide hearing loop signage as well as installing your system.

Conducting A Hearing / Induction Loop Design Survey

Before installing induction loop equipment, a surveyor will look at the requirements and building layout and suggest the right system(s) for you to employ. This can be anything from a portable hearing loop or small counter based system, to a much wider hearing loop system with advanced amplification and multiple sockets for microphones.
